I'm BACK!

My dear followers, I'M BACK!! I know I've been gone for a couple of months and completely forgot about my roots and my dear blog. During the past months I've been busy adjusting my professional life, getting accustomed to working at a magazine like Harper's Bazaar incorporating the Bazaar speech and vision of femininity into my day-to-day outlook on life and fashion, but a certain someone advised me to not abandon my origins and to nourish and take care of the thing that made me a household name (a soft laugh is accepted).

Palermo Dead is not dead, I'm back, and more acid than ever.

Recently I've been thinking about the importance of blogs in the modern world, the importance of being a blogger in the 21st century, and I came to a conclusion: bloggers are today's spokespeople of post-modern information and the way that information that's available to everyone due to the internet is delivered and interpreted.

In Argentina I consider myself a blogger outside of the Argentine blogosphere, because I don't upload things people ask me to, quite on the contrary I just upload the things that interest me and after all that's the initial purpose of a blog: to put my voice out there and hope that someone is interested in what I have to say.

I am a blogger and proud of it; be it a fashion blogger, personal style blogger, political blogger, pop blogger, tropical blogger, latin blogger, sex blogger, I just blog my mind.

Here is my short ode to the bloggers that I admire most, the ones I read on a day to day basis and without whom my life would not be the same, thay are my personal influencers on what I do, think, wear.

Mis adorados seguidores, ¡REGRESÉ! He estado ausente por algunos meses y he olvidado por completo mis raices y mi amado blog. Durante los últimos meses he estado ocupado ajustando mi vida laboral, acostumbrandome a trabajar en una revista como Harper's Bazaar e incorporando el discurso y visión de la femeneidad de Bazaar a mi mirada diaria sobre la vida y moda, pero una persona especial me aconsejó que no abandone mis origines y que retome y cuide la cosa que me hizo estar en boca de todos (suaves risas son aceptadas).

Palermo Dead no está muerto, regresé más ácido que nunca.

Recientemente he estado pensando sobre la importancia del blog en el mundo moderno, la importancia de ser blogger en el siglo 21 y llegué a una conclusión: los bloggers son los voceros de la información postmoderna y la forma en que la misma es divulgada e interpretada dado que esa información está disponible a todos gracias al internet.

En Argentina me considero un blogger fuera de la blogoesfera argentina porque yo no subo cosas porque alguien me lo pide sino porque a mi me da la gana y me gusta, al fin y al cabo ese fue el proposito original de un blog: exponer mi voz y pensamientos y esperar que a alguien le interese lo que tengo que decir.

Soy un blogger y orgulloso de serlo, sea un blogger de moda, blogger de estilo personal, blogger político, blogger pop, blogger tropical, blogger latino, blogger sexual, blogueo lo que está en mi mente.

Aca va mi pequeña oda a los bloggeros que admiro por sobre todos, los que leo diariamente y sin quienes mi vida no sería la misma, son los que personalmente me han influenciado en lo que hago, pienso y uso.

It's Bazaar, with two A's.

Harper's Bazaar me! all night long! YES! The Argentine way.

The rumors are true, Harper's Bazaar that great American fashion institution with more than 140 years of trajectory, that had Erté's fabulous drawing on their covers, that saw the rise of Avedon and Man Ray, that had Diana Vreeland for the first time, that had Carmel Snow and now have Brana Wolf... IS COMING TO ARGENTINA!

All of you may know my deep devotion for Ana Torrejón, an eternally elegant earthly woman's woman filled with grace, knowledge, wisdom and last but not least FASHION! She has been my teacher, my mentor, and now my fashion fairy godmother. La Torrejón is going to be the editrix-in-chief of the magazine with Claudia Pasquini as the creative director, both from what used to be Elle Argentina.

Ana first told me about the news back in November of 2010 but she only mentioned "a project she was working on," and that she would like me to be part of the team, my mind went all-sorts-of-wild with images of what it could be. When she told me it was Harper's Bazaar in January of 2011 I literally fell of my bed, imagine Julia Roberts in My Best Friend's Wedding.

So now... (drum rolls please) ...I'm Junior Stylist at Harper's Bazaar Argentina! From here it's Paris or bust. I can divulge any news about the magazine, it's worse than a state secret; only that the first issue is coming out in May.

Oh and something I learnt very early on if you want to shorten the title while speaking, it's BAZAAR and not Harper's.

Los rumores son verdaderos, Harper's Bazaar esa gran institución de la moda americana, con más de 140 años de trayectoria, que tuvo los geniales dibujos de Erté en sus tapas, que vió el ascenso de Avedon y Man Ray, que descubrió a Diana Vreeland y que tuvo a Carmel Snow y tiene a Brana Wolf... ¡VIENE A LA ARGENTINA!

Todos conocen mi profunda admiración por Ana Torrejón, una mujer entre mujeres eternamente elegante llena de gracia, conocimiento, sabiduría y más que nada MODA. Fué mi profesora, mi mentora y ahora mi hada madrina de la moda. La Torrejón va a ser la directora general de la revista con Claudia Pasquini como editora general, ambas de lo que antes era Elle Argentina.

Ana me contó en noviembre del 2010 sobre "un proyecto que estaba cocinandose" y que le gustaría que yo integre el equipo, mi mente despegó con locas ideas de lo que podría llegar a ser. En enero del 2011 me contó que el proyecto sería Harper's Bazaar Argentina, de tanto saltar sobre mi cama sin rumbo me caí, como Julia Roberts en My Best Friend's Wedding.

Entonces ahora... (tambores por favor) ...soy ¡Estilista Junior de Harper's Bazaar Argentina! De aca sólo viene Paris (por via de NYC quizás). Lamentablemente no puedo contar nada de la revista solo que la primera edición sale a los kioskos en mayo.

Ah, algo que aprendí muy temprano es que si estas hablando y quieres acortar el nombre de la revista, es mejor usar BAZAAR y no Harper's.

As in "Anastasia," Paris really does hold the key to my heart or at least to my dream wardrobe. There's something about Parisian menswear that really does it for me, I tried to do a "Top 10" of my favorite looks but I couldn't stop the list at 10, I want everything!

So I'm just going to give you my top looks from each show, and if there happens to be no look from a certain show then that's my polite way of giving it a rotund thumbs down.

Como en Anastasia, Paris realmente tiene la llave de mi corazón o aunque sea el de mi closet de ensueño. Hay algo de las colecciones masculinas parisinas que me vuelve loco, traté de hacer un "top 10" de mis looks preferidos pero no pude parar en sólo 10 ¡quiero todo!

Entonces les voy a dar mi look favorito de cada colección y si no hay un representante de algún diseñador en particular es porque no me gustó lo que hizo.

El siguiente post será de mis colecciones favorita, de las cuales pasé horas decifrando mi look favorito.

Me and Guayaquil

So... as very December and January in the past four years, I leave my Argentinean comfort zone to venture into the Ecuadorian heat of Guayaquil. I only spent a few weeks over there because I can't forget my duties in Buenos Aires.

For my farewell party, I hosted a small party for my most intimates of friends in my hometown. I hadn't spent a night like that in Guayaquil for a long time: good vibes, good friends and good alcohol. I do have to give props to my sista' Didi, I had never seen her so fashionable before; finally my good taste is rubbing off on these people. LOL.

Here are a few pics of that wild night. For the record I was wearing a tank top by Felix with a DIY safety-pin neck (yes, I was inspired by Katelovesme), a Tramando linen pants, and made-to-measure gladiator sandals.

Como todos los diciembres y eneros en los últimos cuatro años, dejo mi querido Buenos Aires para aventurarme a los calores ecuatoriales de Guayaquil. Esta vez sólo me quedé unas semanas, ya que no puedo abandonar mis responsabilidades y a mi cordooobes por tanto tiempo.

Para mi despedida, hice una pequeña fiesta para mis más íntimos amigos. No había farreado una noche así en Guayaquil hace mucho tiempo: buenas vibras, buena gente y muy buen alcohol. Tengo que felicitar a mi ñaña (hermana) Didi por su look nunca la había visto tan a la moda, quizá porfin se están infectando de mi buén gusto. Jajajaja.

Aca están algunas de las fotos de la fiestita. Yo llevaba una musculosa Felix con el cuello hecho de imperdibles (y si, me inspiré en Katelovesme), un pantalón de lino Tramando y sandalias gladiadoras hechas a medida.

Anna is in the House

Isn't she amazing? She always manages to find the right answer for any question, and then people say fashion is frivolous.

Anna Wintour was recently invited to a state dinner at the White House in honor of the Chinese Premier, she was announced in along with her boyfriend and then came the usual question by a very brave woman "who are you wearing?" Anna answers "Chanel." Personally I would never have had the ability to not stutter in front of Anna Wintour, something I have to get over since I now she'll be my American mentor very soon.

After Anna answers "Chanel," then the reporter goes on to ask something else.

Fabulous! She wants to get the Chinese Premier to invest in Chinese designers! Well... that's why she controls current global fashion.

¿No es increible? Siempre encuentra la respuesta adecuada para cualquier pregunta y después dicen que la moda es frívola.

Anna Wintour fue invitada a la cena de estado en la Casa Blanca en honor al primer ministro chino, la anunciaron junto a su novio y le hicieron la obvia pregunta -¿Quién tienes puesto?- al cual ella respondió -Chanel-. Personalmente yo nunca hubiera podido preguntar nada, porque mi tartamudes hubiera reaccionado como alcoholico en licorería, creo que tengo que superar eso si es que ella va a ser mi mentora en Estados Unidos.

Después que ella responde -Chanel-, la misma reportera le hace otra pregunta:

Reportera audaz -¿Con quién te gustaría conversar hoy de noche?-

Anna Wintour -Con el primer ministro chino-

Reportera audaz -¿Qué le preguntarias?-

Anna Wintour -¿Podría invertir algo de plata en la moda china?

Y por eso controla la moda internacional actual.

Tommy is back

Even though I don't share Mr. Ford's view on male fashions being that they are so conservative and antique, I do share his view on female beauty, female form, and of course female fashions.

Tom says he loves the 70's aesthetic, when women were more approachable, soft to the touch, and real; not necessarily the botoxed-fem-bots that walk around these days.

So even though I posted it up on Zarpado.com, I thought... Why not on my own blog? It is a major fashion event. So without further ado, I give to you Tom Ford Spring 2011.

Aunque yo no concuerdo con el punto de vista conservador y anticuado del Sr. Ford sobre la moda masculina, si comparto sus ideas sobre la belleza femenina, la forma femenina y obviamente la moda femenina.

Tom dice que ama la estética de los '70, cuando la mujer era más verdadera, suave de piel, con curvas naturales y no la femirobot repleta de botox que vemos ahora.

Ya se que subí este video en Zarpado.com, pero pensé... ¿Por qué no? Si es un mega-evento de la moda. Entonces les presento la colección Tom Ford Primavera-Verano 2011.

A Bientôt Chère Carine

On Fridays my morning routine is having breakfast in bed which includes a glass of yogurt and a toast with jam on it around 7h30, because my trainer gets here at 8 o' clock. After getting tortured by Juan Pablo (my trainer) I got back to my apartment and had my daily dose of Twitter (if you don't follow me yet, it's @GabrielEstefano), only to discover that Carine Roitfeld the Dominatrix of fashion has stepped down from her post at French Vogue! Mme. Roitfeld made French Vogue into the beacon that it is today; first making the magazine completely French, giving it a makeover and infusing her gallant porno-chic style into the fashion spreads, articles, covers, etc.

Two of the women I admire most in this industry have resigned from their editor-in-chiefdoms this year, first Aliona Doletskaya in Russian Vogue and now Carine Roitfeld in French Vogue, what's next? Franca Sozzani stepping down from Italian Vogue? You'll notice I don't mention the fabulous Anna, because we all now the only way she'll ever give up her place in Vogue is by prying it from her dead hands.

Now the fashion world is-a-rockin' with two giant question marks over our heads: first, who'll take over the Editor-in-Chief seat at French Vogue? according to vogue.fr Carine will be living in "quelques semaines" if my French isn't that rusty, I think that means in a few weeks; second, what will Carine be doing after she departs from Vogue Paris? Now, if you're gay you may know about the blog Made in Brazil, it's basically a blog filled with hot Brazilian models and news about Brazilian fashion, their twitter is @blogmib if you want to follow them. Made in Brazil twitted that Carine left Vogue to assume the creative director post at Colcci a Brazilian brand, might this be true? who knows, only the future will tell. Brazil is an up-and-coming global fashion force.

So I can only say, a bientôt chère Carine; and I was planning on going to French Vogue's 100th anniversary party with Carine as hostess, I was even beginning to think about my outfit.

La rútina de mis viernes es desayunar en cama un vaso de yogur con una tostada y mermelada a las 7h30 porque a las 8 en punto llega Juan Pablo, mi trainer. Después que JP me torture subo a mi casa y entro a Twitter, es como leer el periodico todas las mañanas para mi (si no me siguen, haganlo en @GabrielEstefano). Mientras recibia mi dosis diaria de twits, descubrí que ¡Carine Roitfeld, la dominatrix de la moda ha resignado de su puesto en Vogue Paris! Mme. Roitfeld transformó a Vogue Paris en el faro que es hoy en día, primero le dió un tono completamente frances, después rediseñó la revista visualmente y le infundió su estilo elegantemente porno-chic a todas las producciones, articulos, tapas, etc.

Dos de las mujeres que más admiro en esta industria han dejado sus puestos de Directoras Generales este año, primero Aliona Doletskaya dejó Vogue Rusia y ahora Carine Roitfeld renuncia a Vogue Paris, ¿y ahora? ¿Franca Sozzani abandonando Vogue Italia? No menciono a la fabulosa Anna, porque todos sabemos que la única forma que ella dejará su puesto en Vogue es arrancandoselo de sus manos muertas.

Ahora el mundo de la moda está mareado con dos gigantes signos de interrogación por encima de nuestras cabezas: primero ¿quién va a asumir el puesto de Director/a General de Vogue Paris? Según vogue.fr Carine dejará su puesto en "quelques semaines" si mi francés no está muy flojo, creo que eso significa en unas pocas semanas; segundo ¿qué va a hacer Mme. Roitfeld-Restoin después que deje Vogue Paris? Ahora, si son gay quizas sabrán de la existencia del blog Made in Brazil, basicamente un blog con modelos brasileros calientes y noticias de la moda brasilera, su twitter es @blogmib si los desean seguir. Made in Brazil twiteo que Carine dejó Vogue para asumir el cargo de directora creativa de Colcci, una marca brasilera ¿será esto verdad? quien sabe sólo el futuro lo dirá, pero Brasil si es una próxima potencia en la moda mundial.

Entonces sólo me queda por decir "a bientôt chère Carine", y yo que planeaba ir a la fiesta de 100 años de Vogue Paris con Carine como anfritriona, hasta comencé a pensar el outfit para esa noche.
