Flowers and a pineapple...

I know my dear readers I've been away, busy with future projects that if they come through you will be the first to hear about them.

All that aside... I got my tattoo finished. After three sessions, three hours each, and a lot... I mean a lot of pain I finally got the tattoo I've been wanting for a long time. As some of you may know I got it on my thigh, and it's not small. They're tropical flowers with a japanese wind and cloud background.

I love it, can't wait for summer with shorts and Brazil for a zunga.

Queridos lectores se que he estado lejos, ocupado con futuros proyectos que si llegan a salir ustedes serán los primeros en saber de ellos.

Todo eso de lado... ¡terminaron mi tatuaje! después de tres seciones, cada uno de tres horas y mucho pero muchisimo dolor finalmente terminaron el tatuaje que he querido por mucho tiempo. Algunos de ustedes han de saber que me lo hice en el muslo, pero no es pequeño. Son flores tropicales con fondo japones de viento y nubes.

Lo amo, ya quiero que sea verano para shorts y Brasil para una sunga.

Walking on a Dream...

So... Do you know who the woman in the picture is? If you're a fashion fanatic as me you would. It's Garance Doré! Yes, the one and only Parisian blogger, friend to the unmistakable Anna Dello Russo, and girlfriend to Scott Schuman himself.

Both Garance and Scott were in Buenos Aires last week for a fashion event called Fashion Edition, a contest for established designers to be able to show 5 looks from their lastest collection, the winner gets to show at a Mercedes-Benz fashion week, this time around at Stockholm fashion week. The winner of the contest is the reknown Pablo Ramírez, famous for his love of black, white and a monastic aesthetic; he seems to want to dress very chic nuns.

I'm not writing this post to talk about that event. The day before, I got to walk around San Telmo talking to Garance, showing her some antique stores and quintessential cafes around the neighborhood. I got to walk with her because my editor was doing an interview to Scott, and Garance wanted to see some of San Telmo, she invited me along and I wasn't about to say no.

The next day was Fashion Edition, we saw the designers present their looks and witnessed Pablo Ramirez win the contest. After the shows, my editor at Remix and I walked up to Scott and Garance to talk to them, after a while Tuti (my editor) was telling me that we were going to take them (Scott and Garance) to a milonga, for those who don't know, a milonga is a traditional place to hear and dance tango in Buenos Aires.

After the event, I ended up at the Faena Hotel with The Sartorialist, Mademoiselle Doré, and a recognized singer Anita Alvarez Toledo along with Tuti dinning and hearing the story about how the two bloggers came to be together (a story you're gonna have to hear from their own lips). After dinner Anita had to go sing, and the four of us went to La Confiteria Ideal, one of the most traditional milongas in Buenos Aires. Scott and Garance were mesmerized with the music, the way couples danced to tango, and the vintage architecture of the place.

No... my dream to be photographed my The Sartorialist didn't come true that day, but I got to go out with them in Buenos Aires, and hear intimate stories about the both of them. Who else gets to say that? I loved the both of them, really cool people, true salt of the earth.

After the night was over I was walking on a dream, I got a taste of what's in store for me, the international fashion world.

Entonces... ¿Saben quien es la mujer en la foto? Si ustedes son igual de fanáticos por la moda como yo, lo saben. ¡Es Garance Doré! Exacto, la bloguera parisina en persona, amiga de la incomparable Anna Dello Russo y novia del fotógrafo Scott Schuman.

Garance y Scott estuvieron en Buenos Aires la semana pasada para un evento de moda llamado Fashion Edition, basicamente un concurso donde diseñadores elegidos muestran cinco looks the su última colección; el ganador se va a un Mercedes-Benz fashion week, esta vez a la semana de la moda de Estocolmo. Pablo Ramírez fue el feliz triunfante, conocido por su amor al negro, blanco y estética monástica; pareciera que quiere vestir a monjas fashionistas.

Este post no es sobre el evento. El dia antes pude caminar por San Telmo con Garance, mostrandole algunas tiendas de antigüedades y cafes de la zona. Caminé con Garance porque mi editor estaba entrevistando a Scott, ella quería pasear un poco y me invitó, obviamente no iba a decir que no.

El dia siguiente fue el Fashion Edition en el Faena, vimos la presentación de los diseñadores. Después del evento, mi editor de Remix y yo nos acercamos a Scott y a Garance para hablar con ellos. Tuti (mi editor) terminó invitandolos a ver tango a una milonga; para los que no saben la milonga es el lugar tradicional para escuchar y bailar tango en Buenos Aires.

Terminé en el Faena con The Sartorialist, Mademoiselle Doré, Anita Alvarez Toledo y Tuti cenando y escuchando la historia de como los dos bloguers se conocieron. Terminamos de comer y fuimos a La Confiteria Ideal, una de las milongas más tradicionales en Buenos Aires. Scott y Garance se hipnotizaron con la música, el baile del tango y la arquitectura antigua del lugar.

No... mi sueño de aparecer en The Sartorialist no se volvió realidad ese dia, pero salí con ellos por Buenos Aires y escuché historias intimas de los dos. ¿Quien más puede decir eso? Eran personas muy buenas, increibles y autenticas.

Cuando la noche terminó, caminaba sobre nubes. Probé lo que el futuro me depara, el mundo de la moda internacional.

Flores y Tatuaje...

No... this is not me, it's Stefano Pilati's arm tattoo of flowers done in the japanese style, but those are japanese flowers if I'm not mistaken.

I've been wanting a large tattoo for a long time and I've had the tropical leitmotif in my mind for a while now, I even started to think I wanted to have the Rio de Janeiro Burle Marx sidewalk on my thigh.

I just started it today, so you'll have to wait a few weeks until it's completely finished so I can uncover it.

No este no soy yo, es el tatuaje de flores de Stefano Pilati hecho en el estilo japonés, si no me equivoco las flores también son japonesas.

He querido un tatuaje grande por un largo tiempo y la idea de temática tropical siempre estuvo en mi mente, hasta comencé a pensar en tatuarme las veredas cariocas de Burle Marx en mi muslo.

Recién lo comencé hoy, van a tener que esperar unas semanas hasta que lo termine totalmente para mostrarlo.

Last week Hermès realized another mini coolhunting-photoshot involving their glorious silk scarves which I absolutely love. Between you and me... I tried to walk out with the scarf I used, but then they wouldn't invite me to such things anymore.

I fell in love with my scarf, it was almost two meters by two meters (or at least it was in my mind), this amazing orange color with maharajas sitting on magenta pillows; normally I don't like orange, but this scarf I want to be buried in. It was made from cashmere, silk, cloulds, feathers and all things soft.

Ana... my birthday is on December 14th *wink*.

Oh, BTW. I got a buzz cut, to get into a summer vibe. I'm so through with winter and cold.

La semana pasada Hermès realizó otro mini coolhunting-photoshot con los pañuelos de seda caracteristicos de la marca los cuales amo absolutamente. Entre tu y yo... intente correr con el pañuelo todavia en mi cabeza, pero despues no me van a invitar a este tipo de eventos.

Me enamoré rotundamente de mi pañuelo, era casi dos metros por dos metros (o era así en mi mente). El pañuelo tenía un increible color naranja con maharajas sentados en cojines magentas; normalmente no me gusta el naranja pero quiero ser enterrado con este pañuelo. Estaba hecho de cashmere, seda, nubes, plumas y todas lo suave en el mundo.

Ana... mi cumpleaños es el 14 de diciembre ;)

Ah... y me rapé el pelo para adentrarme en el verano. Me cansé del invierno y el frio.

BAF Week!

So... I know I've been absent for a week or two, but after Buenos Aires Fashion Week (BAF) I flew to guayaquil for a week to visit my family and to shock and awe them with my brand new blonde hair.

I'm currently the Argentine colaborator for CentroModaOnline, a spanish fashion website run by Pepe Reblet... I have a few articles published already, so go and read me. Since I was "foreign press" at fashion week here in Buenos Aires, I was front-rowing it at most of the shows.

BAF Week for me personally was a success, met a lot of people and did a tons of networking, at one point I ran out of business cards. You'll soon be reading me in Roteiro da Moda, a Brazilian website run by Patricia Zambardino, talking about my favorite topic, Menswear.

During my first day of BAF Week I met some very cool Brazilian girls, specially Jana Rosa from MTV Brazil, she has the blog Agora Que Sou Rica. Also met Vanessa Rodríguez Maza from Lima, Peru that writes for La Vida de Serendipity, Sofia Calvo Foxley from Santiago, Chile that writes for Quinta Trends, these last two became my very good friends during the entire week, loved them.

To a friend...

If you read my blog you may have noticed that the last two banners were in black and white and featured yours truly, the pictures were taken by Suyen Torres a Nicaraguan photographer that as me feels like a world citizen given that she has lived in many places and not just one during her life, these two pictures were also taken by her at her going-away party last Sunday.

She was here in Buenos Aires for a year taking some photography classes and today she's leaving Argentina for Managua, I'm sadden not only because a great friend is leaving but also because we never got to work together and do a fashion shoot together.

Last time I saw her she told me some of her apprehensions about going from the great city back to the small town, she confided in me that some people have "advised" her to tone down her photographic style because it won't mix well with Nicaraguan society... I told her exactly the opposite right after that comment, to double it and to shock and awe everyone; imagine if they had told Warhol to tone down the colors in his paintings?

So I say girl, rock on! Never tone it down and if you ever wanna leave the small town for the big city again, don't doubt it for a minute.

Like I said...

Si son lectores regulares pueden haber notado que los dos últimos banners eran en blanco y negro conmigo como modelo, eran fotos de Suyen Torres una fotógrafa nicaragüense que como yo se siente una ciudadana del mundo ya que ha vivido en varios lugares a lo largo de su vida, estas dos fotos fueron tomadas por ella en su fiesta de despedida el domingo pasado.

Vino a Buenos Aires hace un año para tomar cursos de fotografía y hoy deja la Argentina para regresar a Managua, me da mucha pena no sólo porque una gran amiga se va sino porque nunca pudimos realizar una producción de moda juntos.

La última vez que nos vimos me comentó algunos de sus miedos al regresar de la gran ciudad al pueblo pequeño, me contó que alguna gente le ha "aconsejado" que debería tomar todo lo que aprendío en Buenos Aires y bajarle un tono a su estilo fotográfico que ya no se mezclaría bien con la sociedad de Nicaragua... Yo le dije exactamento lo opuesto, que debería redoblar su propuesta e impactar a todo el mundo; imaginen si le hubieran dicho a Warhol que le baje los colores a sus obras.

Entonces, ¡sigue asi querida! Nunca reduzcas tu estilo y si alguna vez quieres dejar el pueblo por la gran ciudad, no lo dudes ni un minuto.

I'm beggining to really define my style, kinda figuring out it's Parisian-preppy with a bit of English anarchy. Sebas is kinda scared but he understands I like the spotlight, never the follower always the leader.

During our last trip to Rio, we went to one of my favorite places in the city to barhop, listen to amazing live samba, and some of the best caipivodkas in town.... although it is a given that you can find a good caipivodka anywhere in town.

As you can see in the pictures I'm already a bit tipsy in them... I just love me some caipi-anything.

This is how we party...

During my stay in Guayaquil, I had two weddings. The great thing I love about weddings in Ecuador is being able to wear a tux, I don't know why but I love the tradition behind wearing a tux, the glamour, the style, the history.

For me it's like a ceremony; getting showered, doing my hair and then slowly putting each part of the tux on. I prefer the traditional tux with a bow tie and cummerbund, since I feel it's kind of a costume and if I'm going to get dressed up I'm going to go all the way. 

Durante mi estadía en Guayaquil tuve dos matrimonios. Lo que me encanta de casamientos en Ecuador es poder usar un smokin, no se porque, pero a mi me encanta la tradición de usar un smokin, el glamour, el estilo y la historia.

Para mi es una ceremonia;  bañarme, peinarme y despues comenzar a ponerme cada parte del smokin. Yo prefiero el estilo tradicional con moño o pajarita y faja o fajín, siento que es casi un disfraz y si me voy a disfrazar lo voy a ser con todos los juguetes.

La única cosa que cambiaria es el material de los smokins en climas más calidos y que Guayaquil acepte la chaqueta blanca en vez del tradicional negro, dado que ese es el protocol permitido en climas tropicales, como el matrimonio de Lauren Davis y Andres Santo Domingo en Cartagena
