Right in the Vena...

I just love Sophie and Lisa, they are some of the greatest people I have ever met, being very down to earth, humble, laid-back, and most of all very cool.

I'll have an update with their latest fall collection soon, but for now you can relish in their smiles.

Don't you just love them?

Long Live McQueen...

After the loss of Yves Saint Laurent a few years ago, I thought that it would be a while before another great designer would go... Alexander McQueen has commited suicide in his London apartment, and it is confirmed that the great visionary has passed away.

His last spring collection was really one to remember, the spectacle, the beauty, the prints, the innovation, the shoes, the colors; he was a real creative force behind modern fashion, never giving in and always surprising us with new forms, new techniques, new beauty to behold.

He will be missed giving that unlike Saint Laurent, McQueen still had his entire career in front of him, the world still wanted to see his creations and he still had much more to deliver.

I ♥ Gucci

Gucci Spring/Summer 2010

This is how we party...

During my stay in Guayaquil, I had two weddings. The great thing I love about weddings in Ecuador is being able to wear a tux, I don't know why but I love the tradition behind wearing a tux, the glamour, the style, the history.

For me it's like a ceremony; getting showered, doing my hair and then slowly putting each part of the tux on. I prefer the traditional tux with a bow tie and cummerbund, since I feel it's kind of a costume and if I'm going to get dressed up I'm going to go all the way.

The only thing I feel should change is the fabric tuxedos are made of in warmer climates, and for Guayaquil to accept the white coat instead of the traditional black since that is the allowed protocol in tropical climates, like the wedding of Lauren Davis and Andres Santo Domingo in Cartagena.

Alexis Mabille and I

Alexis is a relatively new parisian designer, mainly putting out only couture collections in his native Paris, now he also has a menswear line and I think it's truly amazing.

He's innovating in traditional menswear forms using luxurious fabrics not usually seen or used in a men's collection, making a fall 2010 men's collection for a very sporty cosmopolitan dandy. Sport jackets, blazers with changed lapels, excellent fitting wide pants, and what seems to be jumpers for men (my favorite part of the entire collection).

Alexis also decided to show what an Alexis Mabille man would wear underneath his clothes, sending down models in socks, white briefs, and suspenders.

I love it, do you?

Great minds think alike, no? Look V

Pierced...

I got crazy and did it... After watching a bunch of New Kids on the Block videos and early nineties footage something got in me for a pierced ear, it's sooooo nineties but I love it.

I thought it was gonna hurt more than it did, but it was rather quick and only hurt for a second and then it was over before I could ask, is it gonna hurt?

I love it, do you?

The first month you have to leave it in and not change the earpiece, but after that time I'm still deciding on a ring or a flat black circle... keep posted.

Trends and Faves from the Men's Collections

Pants, pants, pants
I'm a sucker for pants, I think I have so many I can use a different pair each day of the month, I don't know what it is, but when I find a pair of jeans and/or pants that have a great fit and design I instantly fall for them and buy them. Here are the two kinds that I fell in love with...

I call this pant the "Victorian Pant," since it was Prince Albert that made this style popular in England, after watching The Young Victoria, all I wanted were a pair of pants that fit me like that

Alexander McQueen

I love these Gucci's, the fit and specially the cropped quality they have to them

Khaki, neutrals and black
Are the 90's back? Khaki, neutrals and black... Personally I LOVE this trend, but right now I am also in love with neutrals so maybe that has something to do with it...
Prada

I'm in love with these mocassins!!

Gucci

Burberry Prorsum

Boxy jackets and drop-shoulders
Sometimes it's both, and others it's one or the other, drop-shoulders and boxy jackets are appearing on scene, to make guys look more thin than ever, maybe it's not such a bad idea, but I still prefer my clothes to be fitted.

Bottega Veneta

Military Boots
Military boots are all over the fall 2010 collections, almost every single designer had some kind of boot over jeans or pants. Mainly it is a military boot, but biker boots are also in demand, personally I love boots, and love this trend.
